Exploration Drilling Grant Initiative (EDGI) - Round 5 Open for Applications

The Tasmanian State Government, through the Exploration Drilling Grant Initiative (EDGI), is offering grants for co-funded exploration drilling projects. The aim is to provide a stimulus to mineral exploration in Tasmania. The State Government is funding this initiative with $2 million over four years and the program is administered by Mineral Resources Tasmania (MRT).

Regional Airborne Geophysical Survey

Mineral Resources Tasmania, in collaboration with Geoscience Australia, is conducting an airborne magnetic and radiometric survey in a region within central and eastern Tasmania. The survey will provide regional data coverage that will enable informed decisions to be made regarding natural resource management and exploration investment.

A map layer designating areas available for prospecting to those holding a prospecting licence has been added to the map viewer accessed via this website.

Fossicking Areas Available on Map Viewer

Tasmania's designated fossicking areas are available as a layer on the map viewer accessable via this website. The areas clearly define where fossicking is permitted without a prospecting licence. Anyone considering visiting a fossicking site should first view this layer in order to gain an understaning of the boundaries of their intended fossicking destination.

MRT News - August Issue

Welcome to the August 2020 Issue of MRT News containing details of EL2/2020, an ELA the Director of Mines has recommended for granting at Mount Dundas, and a summary of a paper authored by MRT geoscientists: Daniel Bombardieri, Mark Duffett, Andrew McNeill, Mike Vicary, and also Rod Paterson. The paper describes geophysical modeling of the Alberton-Mathinna region and was published in Interpretation.
