The Minister for Resources, Guy Barnett, has announced that nine successful projects will share in over $500,000 in grants from the third round of Exploration Drilling Grant Initiative (EDGI) funding. EDGI is a Tasmanian Government initiative to increase the level of greenfields drilling in Tasmania. The aim is to facilitate discovery of the new projects, away from existing mines, which are necessary for the long term future of Tasmania's mining industry.
Third round funding will take the total EDGI investment to $1.3 million, if all drilling is completed, with a further $0.7 million available for future funding rounds. Most Round 1 projects are now complete and Round 2 Projects are due for completion in May 2020.
Successful Round 3 projects are listed below and their locations are shown on the attached map. For the first time there have been applications for gold projects in the North East of the state. A fourth round of EDGI project proposal applications is expected to be called in 2020. Read the official announcement release here.
