Searching the Deposits database
The Mineral Resources Tasmania deposits database stores information on all known Tasmanian mineral deposits and mineral occurrences of economic interest. This database is used to assist mineral exploration and effective land management in areas of strategic importance to future exploration and to maximise the possibility of new mineral discoveries.
Metallic minerals, industrial minerals, fuel minerals and construction materials are all included. The deposits database holds information on the deposit name, location, commodities, ore reserves, geological environment, bibliographic references and other data. Approximately 6000 occurrences are recorded, ranging from major operating mines to minor prospects and abandoned quarries. The database can be searched either textually or spatially, as described below:
