Engineering Geology - Thematic Maps

Launceston Urban Mapping Project

This was a joint project by local councils and Mineral Resources Tasmania.

1:25 000 scale maps have been produced to cover the 145 km2 project area. Three themes are available:

  • detailed geology;
  • engineering geology and legend; and
  • land stability zonation.

More detailed maps, at 1:10 000 scale, have also been produced to cover six sub-areas (see index map).

The three themes (geology, engineering geology and land stability zonation) are also available for each of these areas.

A CD data package containing the geology, engineering geology, land stability data and image files (ECW and TIF) of the 1:25 000 scale maps is available for $55.

The 1:25 000 scale maps are available for $11 each map (lamination $11 extra) and the 1:10 000 scale maps are available for $11 for each map ($11 laminated).

Output is on an ink jet plotter and lamination of maps is recommended where outside use is envisaged.

Land Stability Hazard Mapping Project

Six maps have been produced on the North West Coast for the Land Stability Hazard Mapping Project. These are at a scale of 1:25 000 and cover the Devonport-Latrobe, Ulverstone-Kindred, Burnie-Stowport, Wynyard-Calder, Rocky Cape-Mawbanna and Stanley-Smithton areas.

The maps contain information on landslide status, slope classification, declared landslide areas and advisory landslide zoning, and simplified geology.

A CD package containing the data on landslide status, slope classification, declared landslide areas and advisory landslide zoning, simplified geology and image files (ECW and TIF) is available for $55.

The maps are available at a cost of $11 per map (lamination $11 extra).

Output is on an ink jet plotter and lamination of maps is recommended where outside use is envisaged.
