SPECIFIC LANDSLIDE MONITORING AND RELATED STUDIES

MRT routinely collects survey information from a number of monitored landslips throughout Tasmania. Currently two landslides (Taroona and Lawrence Vale) are monitored using conventional inclinometer surveys once or twice a year.

With the support of a grant from the Natural Disaster Mitigation Programme, a near real-time monitoring facility is being developed at Taroona to allow a better understanding of landslide movement and causal factors, offering the ability to issue timely warnings if necessary.

Reports of the Taroona Landslide are available for download.

A review of Tasmania's most costly landslide, the Lawrence Vale Landslip in South Launceston, is also available for download.
