Mineral categories available for application under the ERA:
Category 1 - Metallic Minerals and Atomic Substances and any other mineral category that may be available within the defined area.
This ERA lies within the Cambrian Mt Read Volcanics belt, centred about 10 km northwest of Cethana in northern Tasmania. It results from the total relinquishment of EL51/2004 by Bass Metals Limited and Geoinformatics Exploration Tasmania Proprietary Limited.
The prospective Cambrian sequence crops out extensively in the western part of the licence in the Winterbrook area but is largely concealed by Cainozoic cover in the east. The Winterbrook sequence is correlated with the Tyndall Group and includes abundant volcaniclastic sedimentary rocks with minor felsic to intermediate lava and intrusive units. In the east of the tenement, the Cambrian sequence is correlated with the underlying Western Volcano-sedimentary Sequence and represents the along-strike continuation of the units which host a significant VHMS-style alteration zone at Cethana.
Recent exploration within the ERA by Bass Metals Limited includes the creation of a 3D model, processing of ASTER data to identify areas of anomalous alteration, and a 295 line km VTEM survey.
Data sets available for the area include high-quality 200 metre line spacing airborne magnetic and radiometric data collected under the Western Tasmanian Regional Minerals Program, regional gravity data, and 1:25 000 scale digital geology and associated digital databases.
