Annotation
This consultants report was commissioned to review the geology and groundwater resources of Seven Mile Beach and provide an up-to-date statement of the hydrogeology of the area so that the potential impacts on groundwater of proposed sand mining might be better understood and managed. At Seven Mile Beach an unconfined upper aquifer of beach, aeolian and shallow marine sand extends the full length and width of the spit, bounded to the south and north by Seven Mile and Five Mile beaches. Potential impacts from dry sand mining on groundwater conditions are relatively minor, although water table fluctuations may impact on mining conditions.
