Exploration Drilling Grant Initiative (EDGI) – Round 3 Data Now Available
Mineral Resources Tasmania has now released Final Reports from four round 3 EDGI co-funded drilling projects, completed in April 2021.
1.4m at 9.7 g/t Au intersected in GFDD004 drilled at the Grand Flaneur prospect
The reports cover the following projects:
- Grand Flaneur (Gold) – Holes GFD001-6 – Kingfisher Exploration Pty Ltd
- Windy Ridge (Gold) – Holes WRD001-8 – Kingfisher Exploration Pty Ltd
- Mathinna EL4/2019 (Gold) – Holes MDD005 & 8 – Stavely Tasmania Pty Ltd
- Mathinna EL19/2018 (Gold) – Holes MDD006 & 7– Stavely Tasmania Pty Ltd
Data includes the Final Reports as well as all available geological, assay and hyperspectral data. Drill core is available for viewing, by appointment, at the Mornington Core Library.
Windy Ridge and Grand Flaneur are two orogenic gold prospects, near Gladstone in NE Tasmania. Previous mapping, rock-chip sampling and costeaning had defined significant geochemically anomalous zones and these were followed up by the EDGI drilling programs. Geochemically anomalous mineralisation and alteration were intersected in most holes, together with some locally high gold grades. Results provided important new geological information and encouragement for further follow up work.
At the historic Mathinna goldfield in NE Tasmania, both EDGI projects sought to test for new gold-bearing structures, in areas where no previous drilling had occurred. Minor gold mineralisation was intersected, including previously unknown reefs. The holes also provide a dataset of structural information that will help target further exploration, both at Mathinna and along the regional structural trend.
