MRT publishes Mathinna Supergroup age date report

Mineral Resources Tasmania has published Radiometric age dating of the Scamander Formation and underlying units of the Mathinna Supergroup, Scamander area, eastern Tasmania. The Technical Report is the result of a collaborative University of Tasmania-MRT research project which generated new U-Pb radiometric ages of detrital zircons within the upper Mathinna Supergroup near Scamander on the east coast of Tasmania. Nine samples were collected and three were chosen for analysis. The new data add significant information on the provenance of the Panama Group and are the first dates from the youngest rocks in the Mathinna Supergroup in Tasmania.
