An Early Triassic microflora from Schouten Island
This report briefly documents sedimentary structures exposed in a coastal cliff section on western Schouten Island.
The lowermost exposed interval, consisting of at least 12m of greyish shale and siltstone, was initially thought a possible correlative with the Upper Permian Cygnet Coal Measures, but yielded an Early Triassic microflora consistent with correlation with the Ross Sandstone.
