Scamander Formation provenance report
Radiometric dating of detrital zircon grains in sandstones across the Lachlan Orogen can provide key insights into their provenance. While there are a number of analyses reported from across the Lachlan Orogen, including Tasmania, there is very little information available from the Devonian sandstones of northeast Tasmania. The aim of this study was to add to data reported by Knight et al. (2022) to provide a representative suite of analyses from the Scamander Formation which may link to other evidence of a changing depositional environment near the end of the Mathinna Supergroup cycle of deposition.
