The collection is also a repository for reports by mining exploration companies on their mineral exploration activities in Tasmania. The reports issued by Mineral Resources Tasmania and its predecessors, and the company exploration reports, form an invaluable archive of geological information dating back to 1860.

The collection is housed in the Rosny Park offices of MRT and is available to the public for reference only. Online searching of MRT reports, mineral exploration and petroleum exploration reports is available.
