Digital Geology Data

1:25 000 Scale Digital Geology of Tasmania

This data set is derived from geological reports, 1:25 000, 1:50 000 and 1:63 360 scale mapping, new field mapping and interpretation of aerial photography and airborne geophysical data. It has been compiled to fit the Land Information System Tasmania (LIST) digital topographic base. The data set currently covers around 40% of Tasmania and the capture of new data is ongoing. Please refer to the 'Map Index' map in our Web Map Viewer to see the area mapped at this scale. Additional information about the source and reliability of the geological data has also been captured.

Digital Data Package**
The 1:25 000 scale digital geological data package contains geology, alteration, structure, and geology source information. Data is in GDA94 – long./lat. and is available to download in shapefile* format from the link below. Background imagery can be obtained by connecting to our Web Map Service.

Digital Geological Atlas 1:25 000 Scale Map Series
This map series shows geology, structure and mineral deposit locations. The maps are computer generated and printed on an ink jet plotter. Lamination is recommended where outside use is envisaged.

Cost – $11 per map sheet (lamination $11 extra).

Map sheet images can be downloaded by doing a map based search of the 'Map Index' map in the Web Map Viewer, or by doing a text based search of our Catalogue search facility.

1:250 000 Scale Digital Geology of Tasmania

This is a statewide data set derived from the 1:50 000 and 1:63 360 scale Geological Atlas printed map series and 1:25 000 digital geology data (where available). Rock units and boundaries have been generalised and compiled to fit a 1:250 000 scale topographic base. Additional information about the source and reliability of the geological data has also been captured.
