Change is afoot at MRT

Mineral Resources Tasmania has shared the Rosny building with the Department of Justice (DoJ) for many years, including access to shared services such as reception. With DoJ vacating the building, those shared services are no longer available, and MRT is working to maintain service continuity within current State Service workforce settings.

Changes in the near term will include:

  • MRT’s public number (03 6165 4800) will redirect to voicemail. Please leave a message, including your name and phone number, if you would like MRT to get in touch.
  • The reception desk at MRT’s Rosny office will no longer be staffed and the main entrance will be locked. Again, the best way to make enquiries in the short term will be to email info@mrt.tas.gov.au or call (03 6165 4800 and leave a voice message). MRT staff will reply to enquiries.
  • Payments for items such as maps, publications or licences will no longer be accepted at MRT Rosny (please call to arrange a time to make payment at the Burnie office).
  • You may also notice that MRT email addresses are changing from the old format: firstname.lastname@stategrowth.tas.gov.au, to the new format: firstname.lastname@building.tas.gov.au on 2 July 2026. Emails to the old @stategrowth.tas.gov.au addresses will be redirected for a short time, however it is recommended you use the new format from 2 July 2026 in order to maintain clear lines of communication.
  • MRT staff at Rosny will be offline for significant periods packing up the building between now and December. We are working hard to find new accommodation and will communicate the address of our new offices when we are able.

MRT acknowledges the above will create some disruption to functions and services over the next few months.
