Seventeen Projects Share Exploration Drilling Grant Initiative (EDGI) Funding in Round 7

Seventeen successful projects will share in approximately $949,000 in grants from the seventh round of Exploration Drilling Grant Initiative (EDGI) funding.  EDGI is a Tasmanian Government initiative to increase the level of greenfield drilling in Tasmania. The aim is to facilitate discovery of the new projects necessary for the long-term future of Tasmania’s mining industry.

So far more than $889,000 in EDGI grants have been paid toward completed projects from Rounds 1 to 5. Rounds 5 and 6 are still active but If all Round 5,6 and 7 projects are completed, the total EDGI investment will be approximately $2.2 million.

Successful Round 7 projects are listed below and their locations are shown on the attached map.

Round 7 projects include several re-submitted successful proposals from previous rounds. These were unable to commence, due to difficulties created by COVID and the related problem of accessing drill rigs and drilling personnel.

An eighth round of EDGI project proposal applications are expected to be called in late 2022 or early 2023.
