New 1:25 000 Borradaile and Lake Mackenzie geological maps

Mineral Resources Tasmania is pleased to release the new Borradaile and Lake Mackenzie 1:25 000 geological maps. Together, these maps deliver valuable new geological information for research, land management and infrastructure planning.

Borradaile (1:25 000)

The new Borradaile geological map provides detailed coverage of one of Tasmania's oldest and most structurally complex regions. Mapping has revealed a more intricate geological history than previously recognised, improving understanding of the tectonic evolution of the Northern Tyennan region and documenting significant tin and tungsten mineral occurrences associated with Devonian granites.

Lake Mackenzie (1:25 000)

The new Lake Mackenzie geological map documents the Permian-Triassic sedimentary sequence of the Western Tiers and the extensive dolerite plateaus to the south. The map delivers substantially improved geological coverage of a region important for natural resource management, engineering geology, and landscape evolution studies.
