Eleven Projects Share Exploration Drilling Grant Initiative (EDGI) Funding in Round 4

Eleven successful projects will share approximately $427,000 in grants from the fourth round of Exploration Drilling Grant Initiative (EDGI) funding.

EDGI is a Tasmanian Government initiative to increase the level of greenfield drilling in Tasmania.  The aim is to facilitate the discovery of new projects away from existing mines, which are necessary for the long term future of Tasmania’s mining industry.

So far nearly $364,000 in EDGI grants has been paid toward completed projects from Rounds 1 to 3.  Due to the impact of COVID-19, several Round 3 projects required extension of their completion dates by about 6 months, to May 2021.  If the remaining Round 3 projects and all Round 4 projects are completed, the total EDGI investment will be over $1.2 million, leaving $0.8 million for future rounds.

Successful Round 4 projects are listed below and their locations are shown on the attached map.

A fifth round of EDGI project proposal applications is expected to be called in early 2021.
