Hobart Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show 2026

The Hobart Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show was held over the March 7^th-8^th weekend at Elwick Racecourse and as always, MRT had a popular stall manned by Ralph Bottrill, ably assisted by Mike Vicary and Director of Mines Alastair Morton.

The show was hailed a great success, with large crowds attending across the weekend to browse the many stalls and catch up with friends and acquaintances.

MRT's stall offered a range of information on the geology of Tasmania, including brochures, maps, publications, prospecting licences, mineral identification and the opportunity to discuss gems and fossil hunting with experts on all of the above.

This year MRT registered  a notable uptick in sales of geological maps, as members of the public showed a keen interest in learning more about their natural environment.
