Reminder to exploration companies regarding obligations

Under the Mineral Resources Development Act 1995, exploration licence holders have a statutory obligation to complete all approved annual committed work programs. Where a company is unable to meet these commitments, an Application for Exemption from Conditions on a Mineral Tenement must be submitted. Current instability in fuel and diesel supply may impact the ability of some companies to carry out planned exploration activities.

Companies are reminded that applications for Exemption from Conditions must be lodged before work program commitments fall due and cannot be made retrospectively.
