Round 10 EDGI Results

MRT has released the first four Round 10 EDGI co-funded drilling project reports, completed in May 2025.  The report from the final Round 10 project is scheduled for release in April 2026.

Sample from auger hole TB008 at the Temple Bar EDGI project – from 1m to 3m averaging 3360 ppm Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO) – hole bottomed within the mineralised horizon.

Round 10 delivered exciting results for EDGI!

At the Temple Bar project east of Evandale, ABx Group Limited discovered shallow zones rich in dysprosium and terbium - critical Rare Earth Elements (REE) that power modern technologies. Adding to the success, drilling at the Jukes prospect near Queenstown by Georgina Resources Pty Ltd, identified broad intervals of previously unknown copper-gold mineralisation.

The four reports cover the following projects:

  • Link Zone (Gold) – Hole LZDD001 – Flynn Gold Ltd
  • Golden Ridge (Gold) - Holes GRA001 & GRA002 – Flynn Gold Ltd
  • Jukes (Copper-Gold) – Holes JDD001 & JDD002 - Georgina Resources Pty Ltd
  • Temple Bar (Rare Earth Elements) – Holes TB001 to TB008 - ABx Group Limited

Data provided includes the Final Report and all available geological, geochemical, and geophysical data, as well as drill core photos. MRT have collected hyperspectral data from all holes except the Temple Bar auger holes, which can be requested from info@mrt.tas.gov.au. Drill core and samples are available for viewing, by appointment, at the Mornington Core Library.

Exploration at the Link Zone (Flynn Gold Ltd), 19 km southwest of St Helens, set out to chase the potential continuation of gold mineralisation about 1 km from the Trafalgar deposit. To achieve this, a single diamond hole was drilled to confirm broad low-grade gold mineralisation intersected in a nearby 2022 RC hole, as well as the gravity modelled depth to the associated granodiorite contact.

While gold mineralisation was present, it didn’t replicate the higher grades seen in the 2022 RC hole. As such, a planned follow up fence of RC holes, initially proposed as part of the EDGI project, was not undertaken.

At the Golden Ridge project (Flynn Gold Ltd), approximately 1 km west of Link Zone, drilling aimed to test continuity of auriferous quartz-sulphide veins seen in historic workings and investigate the structural environment that controls vein thickness and gold grade.

Two diamond holes were completed.  The first did not return any significant gold assays but the second intersected several narrow vein zones with weak to moderate grade.  Results strengthened the company’s interpretation of fold-controlled gold mineralisation hosted by Mathinna group metasediments in the project area and highlight the need for further structural analysis to guide future targeting.

At the Jukes Prospect (Georgina Resources), south of Queenstown, two EDGI diamond holes were drilled to explore depth extensions of known copper–gold mineralisation beneath historic workings and pre-1987 drilling. Earlier programs had focused solely on the Jukes Fault, so this campaign aimed to test the broader mineralised system.

Mineralisation intersected by the EDGI holes was found to be not only associated with the Jukes Fault.  This has opened the strike and depth potential for further mineralisation. To date only 200m of the 800m potential strike length at the prospect has been drill tested.

The results of the Round 10 EDGI drill program at Jukes supports further exploration activity, with planned work including surface outcrop channel sampling, ground gravity surveys, gridding, IP surveys and more follow-up drilling.

At the Temple Bar Project, east of Evandale (ABx Group Ltd), the program planned 43 auger holes—designed as a first-pass, wide-area reconnaissance across the exploration licence. This ground was considered highly prospective, sharing similar geology and morphological features to the REE hosting Deep Leads – Rubble Mound area just north of Westbury.

Unfortunately, due to access issues, only eight holes for 27m were able to be completed.  There were also problems with the auger rig being unable to penetrate the full depth of the REE hosting clay horizon.

Despite these problems, three of the eight holes intersected significant REE mineralisation, rich in rare earth magnet metals. Two holes intersected REE only one metre below surface, with the holes ending in mineralisation.

Follow up drilling is planned.
