NEW RELEASE: Part 1 of a study of the structural geology of northern Tasmania
MRT has released the first in a series of Geological Survey Papers (GSPs) dealing with the structural character and inter-relationships of the major lithotectonic elements of northern Tasmania.
Part one of this series: The Forth metmorphic sheet, interrogates this litho-tectonic sequence of Proterozoic high-grade garnet schists, structurally overlain by Neoproterozoic low-grade quartzite ± phyllite and low-grade Neoproterozoic turbidites of the Oonah Formation.
This paper has been authored by recent F. L. Stillwell Award winning scientists Dr David Gray and Mr Michael Vicary. Papers in this series will include:
1. H-G Forth Metamorphic Sheet (this study)
2. L-G Ulverstone Metamorphic Sheet
3. L-G Burnie-Oonah Sheet
4. Penguin-Luina Sheet
5. Arthur Structural and Metamorphic Zone
You can find the paper here, or search for it in our documents database by entering GSP16 in the Report Number field.
